The smartphone chipset making companies are expeditiously rolling out new SoCs for smartphone that are having a more powerful display, better processing speed and many other improved new technologies. Here we have listed 5 best smartphone chipset that will take your smartphone to the next level.

1. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820

The current leading company in mobile chips making Qualcomm's Snapdragon was one of the high end product that runs a processor package that is compatible with 64 bit arcitechture. The Snapdragon 820 is running with eight TS2 high-performance cores, and the performance booster is the company's new Adreno 530 GPU, LPDDR4 RAM, and an advanced MDM9X55 LTE-A Category 10 modem.
Also having a quick charge 3.0.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip

We have already seen some smartphones with Snapdragon 820 chipset like LG G5, Samsung S7/S7 edge, Sony Xperia X seen at MWC. You might see more smartphones coming with Snapdragon 820 chipset.

2. Kirin 940

The Kirin chipsets are introduced in smartphones by Huawei's mobile devices. One notable difference between Kirin 930 and the Kirin 940 is that the Kirin 940 possess a co-processor called the i7 (not Intel's Core i7 CPU). The i7 will be handling the less intensive tasks, giving the primary processor more breathing room in delivering effective results for smoothing out the overall user and app interface. The processor packages are:

Kirin chipset
  • ARM Quad-core Cortex-A53
  • ARM Quad-core Cortex-A72 (possessing a maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz). In addition to the processor, the Kirin 940 will also be running ARM's Mali-T860 and dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM.
  • Maximum camera sensor: 32 megapixels
  • LTE Modem: Category 7
  • Bluetooth: BT 4.2
  • USB type: USB 3.0
3. Kirin 950

The Kirin 950 is the big brother of the Kirin 940. Similar to the Kirin 940, the Kirin 950 will also feature the i7 co-processor along with an octa-core package.
  • ARM Cortex A 53 coupled with 4 Cortex-A72's clock speed given a slight boost to 2.4 GHz.
  • ARM's Mali-T880 GPU.
  • The only other difference separating the Kirin 940 and the Kirin 950 will be a Category 10 LTE modem.
  • Dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM
  • Supporting camera resolutions up to 42 MP
  • 4K recording and USB 3.0
4. MediaTek MT8173

The Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer's Media Tek MT8173 is also one of the top rated smartphone chip. MediaTek MT8173 is a highly integrated System-on-chip (SoC) which incorporates advanced features such as:

MediaTek MT8173 chipset

  • CorePilot Quad Core ARM Cortex-A72 / Cortex-A53 Heterogeneous Multiprocessor (HMP)
  • Imagination GX6250 GPU
  • 2560 x 1600 display resolution
  • 20MP image signal-processor
  • H.265/VP9 2160p UHD video playback
  • Built-in HDMI Tx that supports Ultra HD 2160p video output
5. Apple A9

Apple A9 chipset

Apple A9 is the apple's latest chip that running Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The Apple A9 is based on Samsung's 14nm FinFET architecture. Apple A9 is the 64 bit processor, 1.85Ghz. Apple A9 features  LPDDR4 RAM. Apple A9 is 70% more faster and responsive than the previous chipset by Apple.
