Vivo Gearing up to launch Xplay5 smartphone with 6GB RAM on 1st march

Vivo is all set to launch their handset called the Vivo Xplay5 on 1st March 2016 at an event in China. The full specifications have not yet been disclosed but the company has confirmed some key specs – Xplay 5 will come with 6GB RAM.Vivo Xplay5 will be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64 bit quad core processor, that is already been used on recently announced devices. It is also confirmed that this handset will be packed with 6GB RAM (LPDDR4) and it will be using dual curved edge screen.
Other rumored features – A 16MP primary camera on the back and an 8MP secondary camera on the front. This handset will be loaded with common features like 4G, 3G, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and probably NFC and finger print scanner. Xplay5 may sport a 6 inch screen with Quad HD – 1440 pixels resolution.
Well that's about it, stay tuned for the launch as it happen in China at around 5PM Indian time on 1st of March 2016.

Panasonic Toughpad FZ-N1, FZ-F1 unveiled for $1499 onwards

At the MWC 2016 event, Panasonic unveiled two rugged smartphones called the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-F1 and the Toughpad FZ-N1. The FZ-F1 is running Windows 10 and the FZ-N1 is running Android Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box. These handsets carry a price tag of $1499 (FZ-N1) and $1599 (FZ-F1).Panasonic Toughpad FZ-N1/FZ-F1 is powered by 2.3GHz qualcomm snapdragon 801 quad core processor with Adreno 330 GPU. This is a dual SIM handset that sports a 4.7 inch 10 point multi touch sunlight viewable screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. Screen comes with rain sensing and glove mode support.

As mentioned FZ-F1 will be running Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise version and FZ-N1 will be running Android 5.1.1. There is 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and 64GB external micro SD card support. The handset is IP67 certified i.e. it can survive being submerged in water up to 3.3 feet for 30 minutes and IP65 certified i.e. can survive high pressure jet spray. This Toughpad is also vibration, dust, shock, sand, freeze, shock, rain and humidity proof.There is an 8MP camera on the rear with LED flash support and 5MP camera on the front. Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and angled 2D/1D bar-code reader. A 3200 mAh battery powers up this handset. Users can also buy swap-able battery pack of 6200 mAh capacity.
Panasonic Toughpad FZ-N1 is priced at $1,499 (approx ₹1,02,000) and Toughpad FZ-F1 for $1,599 (approx ₹1,09,000).

Lenovo Vibe K5 and K5 Plus announced for $129 and $149

Lenovo Mobiles unveiled the Vibe K5 and the K5 Plus with a price tag of $129 and $149 respectively at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona. Lenovo Vibe K5 is using Snapdragon 415 chipset whereas the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is using Snapdragon 616 chipset.

Lenovo Vibe K5 details and specifications

This handset sports a 5 inch IPS screen supporting 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. It is running Lollipop 5.1 with 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and micro SD card support (32GB). Vibe K5 houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 octa core processor – 64 bit clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with Adreno 405 GPU.
K5 is a dual SIM handset that also includes a 13MP camera on the rear with flash support and 5MP camera on the front. Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, GPS, WiFi, FM radio, Dolby ATMOS and Bluetooth 4.1. Handset weight is 142 grams with 2750 mAh battery. Lenovo Vibe K5 carries a price tag of $129 that comes to approx ₹8,800.

This dual SIM handset is powered by Snapdragon 616 64-bit octa core processor with Adreno 405 GPU. K5 Plus sports a 5 inch screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. Android Lollipop runs out of the box with 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and 32GB micro SD card support.
There is a 13MP primary camera with flash and 5MP secondary camera. Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, GPS, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi and Dolby ATMOS. Vibe K5 Plus weight with 2750 mAh battery is 142 grams. Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is priced at $149 that comes to approx ₹10,200.

Timex Metropolitan+ analog activity tracker watch launched for ₹9,995

Timex launched an analog watch with activity tracker (that keeps track of steps, calories burned and distance) called the Timex Metropolitan+ for a price tag of ₹9,995. This analog watch with fitness tracker is compatible with Android and iOS platforms.The Timex Metropolitan+ is a little different and it does display the distance traveled and steps count (%) on the watch dial in analog style.

You get a traditional analog watch with some Smartwatch functionality. You can check the goal achievements on the watch dial itself or via the app available for Android and iOS devices. This watch makes use of Bluetooth to communicate with the smartphone.The best part is that the Timex Metropolitan+ is using button cell battery, there is no charging required and a new battery will last for up to 1.5 years. The Metropolitan+ is also water resistant up to 50 meters and incorporates the Indiglo night light feature. Plus you can use the extra straps to change the look as needed.

Acer Liquid Jade 2, Zest and Zest 4G unveiled at MWC 2016

At the MWC 2016 Acer announced premium flagship model Liquid Jade 2 and two budget friendly smartphones the Liquid Zest and Liquid Zest 4G. The Acer Liquid Jade 2 price has not yet been disclosed, but the Zest price will be EUR 109 and the Zest 4G will be priced at EUR 149.

Acer Liquid Jade 2

This handset is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor coupled with Adreno 418 GPU. It sports a 5.5 inch AMOLED screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. There is 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM.
A21MP camera is packed on the rear with dual LED flash support and front camera is of 8MP resolution. Key features are 4G, 3G, 2G, GPS, USB Type C port, WiFi, DTS sound and Bluetooth. Acer Liquid Jade 2 battery mAh and price is not yet known.
Acer Liquid Zest and Zest 4G
This handset is powered by quad core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It sports a 5 inch IPS screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. There is 8MP primary camera and 5MP secondary camera. Android Marshmallow runs the show with probably 1GB or 2GB RAM and 8GB/16GB storage (not disclosed).
The Zest 4G is using a different quad core chipset clocked at 1GHz with 4G LTE support. Acer Liquid Zest supports DTS sound and Zest 4G supports DTS HD premium sound. Common features are WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth.
Zest is priced at EUR 109 and Zest 4G is priced at EUR 149.

LG G5 quad core unveiled with Hardware expansion slot

LG had announced the LG G5, yesterday. Their new handset called G5 is powered by snapdragon 820 quad core processor and comes with hardware expansion slot with supported hardware expansion modules like Hi-Fi Plus, CAM Plus and B&O Play.LG G5 is kind of a modular smartphone that supports different expansion modules, users can remove the modular component unveiling the card slots and battery and simply insert the add-on component. Just to give you an example the CAM Plus is one such module that can be attached through the battery slot – its gives DSLR type of controls.

LG G5 weight with battery is 159 grams and thickness is 8.6mm. This handset sports a 5.3 inch screen supporting 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution – with an always on display. G5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64 bit quad core processor with Adreno 530 GPU.Marshmallow runs the show with 4GB RAM, 32GB ROM and micro SD card support. There are dual cameras on rear a 16MP + an 8MP with 4K recording capabilities. Front camera is an 8MP shooter.Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, GPS, USB Type C port, NFC, finger print scanner, IR and Bluetooth 4.2. A 2800 mAh battery that can be removed powers up this handset (supports quick charge 3.0).

Gionee S8 unveiled with a new brand identity

At the MWC 2016 event Gionee today unveiled their new brand identity and also announced their next smartphone called the Gionee S8 that is priced at EUR 449 (approx ₹34,000). The company revealed the new Gionee logo that shows the company's desire to create happiness.The characters in the logo 'i' and 'j' form 'G' the logo basically means – 'I am Joyful'. Along with a new identity the company announced the Gionee S8. This is a dual SIM handset with 4G+ support. The S8 handset will be running Amigo 3.2 based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.
S8 sports a 5.5 inch AMOLED screen with full HD (1080p) resolution. It is powered by MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 octa core chipset coupled with Mali T860 GPU. There is 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage space plus micro SD support of up to 200GB.A 16MP camera is packed on the rear with laser AF and an 8MP camera on the front. Primary camera can record FHD videos @ 30fps. Handset weight is 147 grams and thickness is 7mm. Gionee S8 gets power from a 3000 mAh battery and supports 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, HiFi audio, DTS sound and GPS.Gionee S8 is priced at EUR 449.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge unveiled in Barcelona

At the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event (Barcelona), Samsung Mobiles unveiled their next flagship model the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Both these handsets will either be powered by snapdragon 820 quad core or Samsung Exynos 8 octa core processor (market depended).


Samsung Galaxy S7

This is a dual SIM smartphone using a hybrid slot that can either house a nano SIM or micro SD card. S7 sports a 5.1 inch super AMOLED screen with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. Unique thing about this display is that it is using pressure sensitive technology and display supports 'always on'.
Depending on the region the Samsung Galaxy S7 will either house the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64 bit Kyro quad core processor clocked at up to 2.2GHz coupled with Adreno 530 GPU or Samsung Exynos 8 8890 2.3GHz Octa Core processor.
Android Marshmallow runs the show with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, optional 32GB/64GB of internal storage and micro SD support of up to 200GB. A 12MP AF dual pixel camera is packed on the rear with smart OIS, f/1.7 aperture (larger 1.4µm pixels) and LED flash support. Front camera is 5MP resolution also with f/1.7 aperture. This camera should be able to capture excellent shots in low light conditions. Motion photo and motion panorama features have been incorporated.

Galaxy S7 is IP68 certified – dust and water resistant. Weight is 152 grams and thickness is 7.9mm. Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, WiFi, heart rate sensor, finger print scanner and Bluetooth 4.2 LE. A3000 mAh battery powers up the S7 (fast charging supported – on wireless too).

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

This dual SIM handset is also powered by the same chipset Snapdragon 820 / Eyxnos 8 octa core. It however sports a 5.5 inch curved super AMOLED always on display with Quad HD resolution 2560 x 1440 pixels.
S7 Edge is also running Marshmallow out of the box with 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage and 200GB micro SD card support. Camera is also the same – 12MP on back and 5MP on front. Handset weight is 157 grams and thickness is 7.7mm.
Key features are 4G, 3G, GPS, NFC, WiFi, finger print scanner, IP68 certified and heart rate sensor. This one gets power from a 3600 mAh battery with fast charging support.
This handset can be pre-ordered from selected countries (with free Gear VR headset).

Obi Worldphone MV1 Snapdragon 212 powered announced for $139

Obi Worldphone has launched a new low cost smartphone the MV1 for $139 at MWC 2016. This handset sports a 5 inch screen and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad core processor. MV1 comes with  dual SIM slots with 4G LTE support.Worldphone MV1 as mentioned houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 1.3GHz quad core processor coupled with Adreno 306GPU. This smartphone sports a 5 inch touch screen protected with gorilla glass 3 and supporting 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.

This is a dual SIM handset that is running both Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 and Android Lollipop 5.1. Sony Xperia X, X performance and XA unveiled at MWC 2016

At MWC 2016, Sony showcased the Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA smartphones. The Sony Xperia XA is octa core powered smartphone with 5 inch edge to edge display and the Xperia X performance is powered by quad core Snapdragon 820 whereas the Xperia X is powered by Snapdragon 650 hexa core chipset.

Sony Xperia X

This handset houses the Snapdragon 650 hexa core processor with Adreno 510 GPU. It's a dual SIM handset running Marshmallow over a 5 inch triluminos screen with FHD resolution. There is 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM and 200GB micro SD card support.
A 23MP Sony EXMOS RS camera is packed on the rear and a 13MP camera on the front. Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, 2g, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, DSEE HX, LDAC and finger print scanner. This handset houses a 2630 mAh battery.

Sony Xperia X Performance

This handset sports a 5 inch FHD Triluminos display running Marshmallow with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and 200GB micro SD support. This handset is powered by Snapdragon 820 quad core processor with Adreno 530 GPU.
Dual SIM X Performance comes with 23MP camera on rear + 13MP camera on the front. Rest of the features is the same as seen the Xperia X. The Sony Xperia X Performance houses a 2700 mAh battery.

Sony Xperia XA

This dual SIM handset is powered by MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 octa core processor with T860 GPU. Marshmallow runs the show with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage plus micro SD card support of up to 200GB.
Xperia XA sports a 5 inch screen with edge to edge display supporting 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. A 13MP camera is packed on the rear and an 8MP on the front. Additional features are 4G LTE, 3G, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC. XA gets power from a 2300 mAh battery (using Qnovo's adaptive charging tech).
Sony Xperia XA, Sony Xperia X performance and Sony Xperia X prices have not yet been disclosed.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will be launched on 3rd March 2016

Xiaomi had tweeted that they will come up with the news about the Redmi Note 3, today. Unfortunately they just revealed the launch event date, it will be held in Delhi on 3rd of March 2016. The event will begin from 2PM onwards. The company will be launching the Redmi Note 3 powered by Snapdragon processor (hexa core) with Adreno 510 GPU. MIUI will run over a 5.5 inch screen with FHD resolution. Not sure if the company will launch both variants i.e. with 2GB RAM / 16GB storage and 3GB RAM / 32GB storage.This is a dual SIM handset that also comes with a 16MP primary camera and 5MP secondary camera. Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, GPS, WiFi, fingerprint scanner and Bluetooth. The Redmi Note 3 gets power from a 4000 mAh battery.
So stay tuned for the launch event on 3rd March, the only thing users are waiting to know is 'What will be the Price?'.

Intex Mobiles have launched a new handset the Aqua Ace Mini, tagged the supreme prodigy for a price tag of ₹7,799. Key highlights about the Ace Mini is that, it supports 4G, running Android Lollipop and gets power from a 3000 mAh battery.Intex Aqua Ace Mini houses a 1GHz 64 bit quad core processor – MediaTek MT6735. This is a dual SIM handset that sports a 5 inch IPS screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. Android Lollipop version 5.1 runs the show with 2GB RAM (DDR3) and 16GB of internal storage. Handset weight is 150 grams (with battery) and it is 8.65mm thick.
Users will get around 12GB free internal storage space on first boot. The Ace Mini also comes with micro SD card support of up to 32GB. When it comes to camera there is a 5MP fixed focus camera on the front and an 8MP auto focus camera on the rear. Rear camera comes with f/2.0 aperture and front camera is with a f/2.4 aperture.Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth. The 3000 mAh battery that the handset houses gives up to 12 hours of talk time on a full charge.
