Ringing Bells "Freedom 251" launched for ₹251 Posted: 17 Feb 2016 12:36 PM PST Ringing Bells, a new company has launched the Cheapest Smartphone ever – Freedom 251, that carries a price tag of just ₹251. Their Website was already up since morning, the handset shown on the website was different from what was launched at the event a few minutes back. As of now their site has been updated and you can see the actual Freedom 251 handset there. Ringing Bells Freedom 251 looks like a re-branded Adcom smartphone but for ₹251 it still sounds unbelievable. If you are interested you can buy this handset from 6AM onwards, tomorrow (18th of Feb 2016). Do note that Freedom 251 shipping will begin by end of June 2016, that's a huge waiting time – we will get a better idea about the delivery schedules when the booking process starts. As far as the specifications are concerned, it is a 1.3GHz quad core powered handset sporting a 4 inch qHD / WVGA resolution running Lollipop with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM and 32GB micro SD card support. This dual SIM handset comes with a 3.2MP primary camera and a VGA secondary camera. Key features are 3G, 2G, GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth. A 1450 mAh battery powers up this handset. You can get more info about the device and how it can be booked from the Freedom251.com website. The hands on units that were made available at the event had a whitener covering the Adcom logo. Now this really is a bad practice, if you don't have a proper sample at a launch event, with the proper logo, things gets a lot suspicious. Though the handset is priced at ₹251, we will have to see what will be the booking procedure tomorrow. They may include Delivery Charges for the smartphone. The Design and the Icons were mostly adopted in fact copied from the Apple iphone and iOS. This is one of the reason to suspect because there is a chance of filing a case about copying the design from Apple. It lacks the BIS certification too. The device which was shown in the website is completely different from what they have launched. The company confirmed that there is no government subsidy for the phone, and nor is there any involvement from the government. The company also said that currently the chipset will be imported from Taiwan and the rest of the Freedom 251 will be made in India. |
